PARKS AND RECREATION
The Village of Wellsville has some very nice parks
within its borders. TheVillage's primary park is Island Park located on
the peninsula between Dyke Creek and the Genesee River. Home to the Lions
Fishing Derby held each Spring and the Great Wellsville Balloon Rally held each
Summer. This park provides pavilions, picnic tables and grills. The pavilions
can be reserved for special occassions. A small playground is located in Island
Park. There is a handicapped access fishing platfor located on the Genesee
River. A Gazebo is also located here. Restrooms are available in thie park.
This park has easy access to downtown via walking or car. The Island park is
directly adjacent to the Baseball and Softball Fields of Lagoon Park
& Quackenbush Fields. There is a playground located at Lagoon
Park.
The additional Parks include:
Memorial Park - a small
triangular park that is in memory of our service people loacted at the corners
of Stevens Street & Brooklyn Street & West Pearl Street.
Colligan Park - the newest park in the Village is been completed
with a new gazebo, benches, walks, flowers and decorative lighting located at
the intersection of Routes 19, 417 and Hanover Street.
Tullar Field - this Baseball Field is located
behind the Police Station on South Main Street.

Other playing
fields are located at the site of the former fair grounds behind the Elementary
School that support the various school athletic programs and some community
events.
