Wellsville, as the largest community is Allegany County, has traditionally been considered the "shopping center" for southern Allegany County and northern Potter County in Pennsylvania. The community is home to the County's two largest industries: Alstom Power Air Preheater, with 700 employees; and Dresser-Rand, with 700 employees; as well as many smaller companies, such as Current Controls and Northern Lights Candle Co. and Lufkin Technologies.
Numerous locations are available for industry and commercial development within the Village of Wellsville and in the surrounding Town of Wellsville. Small lots of land are available along the Main Street Business District and large sites exist in locations north, south, and east of the Village. A newly constructed Airport Industrial Park is a prime location for industrial entry as well.
The Village of Wellsville also seeks to assist economic development by making available a Revolving Loan Fund. The Fund has been able to provide $500,000 and been instrumental in the creation of over 75 jobs. For more information about the loan program that is tied to job creation, contact the Alfred Housing Committee at (585) 593-6353.
