The Village Underground Services Department maintains all water and wastewater within the Village. This crew maintains the fire hydrants, flushes the water lines annually, and exercises our valves within the system.
You must remember that if you are going to be digging, you must call the UFPO.
Always call Dig Safely New York at least two full working days before you dig - - 1-800-962-7962.
Wait the Required Time - - Do not dig before your selected starting date.
Confirm Utility Response - - Be sure all utilities in the area have marked their facilities or given you notification that their facilities do not exist in the area.
Respect the Marks - - Be sure the stakes, flags, or paint for your particular location have not been altered.
Dig with Care - - Be especially careful when digging within two feet of the paint, stakes, or flags. Within this area all digging should be done with hand-tools.
CAUTION: Be aware that in many cases the utilities mark their lines, but that you may have lines that are associated with your house that are not part of their network. They may be part of your property - - example: underground line from house to garage or pool - - carefully check your property for signs of these hidden lines. It is not the utility company's responsibility to mark those items that they do not own.
